Nicholas J. (Guido) Calcaginio, Jr. 66 of Syracuse passed away April 21st with family by his side after fighting a long, brave battle with cancer.

Nick was an ESM graduate, after graduation he went to work at Carrier Corporation. He was a volunteer fireman with the Minoa fire department and for EAVES Ambulance for many years. Following Carrier he was employed as a bus driver for the Central Square School District. On occasional weekends, he would drive charter buses to Foxwoods Casino for his sisters business, Bingo Connections and for Bernie Bus during the summer months. After retiring, Nick enjoyed his NASCAR & going to camp at Blind Sodus Bay, it was his home away from home.

Nick is pre deceased by his parents, Nicholas (Blackie) & Verna Calcaginio, his brother Randy Calcaginio and son Chad Christopher.

Nick is survived by his fiancé Carol Mannigan Abolt, sister Carol (Samuel) Wright, brother, Dale Bryant of Texas, daughters Tonya (CJ) Mashaw of Solvay, Carrie (David) Calcaginio of Kirkville, Beth Calcaginio of East Syracuse and a son, Nicholas Calcaginio, III of Fayetteville & Step daughter Tara Abolt of Syracuse. Nephews Darrell (Danielle) Longo, Travis Wright, nieces Crystal, Robin, Rachel, Terry, Shelly and grandchildren Kylie (Trent), Isabella, Lynsey, Peyton, Carter, Chelsea, Kaila, Zaccary and great granddaughter Tatiana.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-6pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse, NY, with services to follow.
