She has been happily reunited with her husband, Dino J. Abelli; her parents, Josephine and Antonino Puglisi; and her sister, Tana (Freddie) Destro.
Maria was born on February 17, 1930 in Linguaglossa, Sicily and immigrated to America at the age of 16. Maria and Dino married on November 10, 1951 in Astoria, NY. She devoted her life to making a loving home for her family and she continually placed everyone’s needs above her own. Maria will be greatly missed by her children, Dino E. (Carol) Abelli, Mary Jo (Ray) Danchak, and Aida Abelli Cass; sister, Tina (Pat) Siano; brother, Alfio (Pietrina) Puglisi. She will be also missed by her five granddaughters, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the 2nd floor staff at St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center for their care and respect towards Maria during her stay.
Calling hours will take place at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, N. Syracuse on Thursday 4-7PM. Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home Friday, 11AM. Interment will remain private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center.
