Edward M. Murphy
November 28, 2017

Edward “Mike” Murphy, 61, of Liverpool passed away suddenly on Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born on May 13, 1956 the son of the late Francis and Evelyn Murphy. He retired after 40 years working for the Department of Transportation, but he never stopped moving. He loved camping, fixing up old John Deere tractors, and buying and selling collectables. He ran his own landscaping business for several years after retiring. He adored his 9 grandchildren and was an amazing Grandfather. He loved to take them on rides on his tractors and golf carts. He never missed their school events, birthdays, or holidays. He was known to show up unannounced with their favorite snacks or special gifts for them. Anytime his grandkids saw his big, red truck pull up, they would shout “Grandpa’s here!” and run to the door to greet him unable to contain their excitement.

He was a loving and giving father to his 5 children: Scott (MiJin) Murphy, Mathew Murphy, Jennifer (Joe) Brown, Andrew Murphy, and Michael (Linda) Murphy. His children knew they could always count on him, with just a phone call he would drop whatever he was doing to be there for them.

In addition to his 5 children and 9 grandchildren, he is survived by longtime companion, Karen Rogers, his sisters, Pat Stopyro, Mary Smith, and Barbie Murphy, his brothers, Rick Murphy and Joe Murphy, and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday December 5th from 4-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St, North Syracuse, NY. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday December 6th at 10am at the funeral home.
