Alfonsina “Sina” Mercurio

Alfonsina “Sina” Mercurio, 78, of Syracuse, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday.

Sina enjoyed shopping, cooking and spending time with her family. Sina enjoyed attending Rosary Group and spent time daily in prayer. She was a stay at home Mom and then worked at various local businesses. Sina also was heavily involved in her husband’s businesses. Most importantly, Sina was a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a heart of gold and if you called, she came and if you needed, she gave. She will be dearly missed by her family and many close lifelong friends.

Sina is survived by her husband of 57 years, Sam “Zaz”; daughter, Mary Katherine (Kevin) Mahar; son, John (Dieanna) Mercurio; grandchildren, Maria (Jim) Stark, Melissa (Derek) St. Phillips, Karolyn Mahar, Kaitlin Mercurio, Johnny Mercurio, Joe Mercurio and Matt Mercurio; great-grandchildren, Jolene, Dylan, Cole and Lincoln; sister, Fanny Mannara and several nieces and nephews.

Mass will be Saturday at 8:30AM at Our Lady of Pompei, Syracuse. Calling hours will follow Mass until Noon at Our Lady of Pompei Church, Syracuse.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
