Edmund R. Urbaetis, 82, of Cicero, died on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Crouse Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Mechanicville, March 9, 1933, he was the son of the late William and Freda (Kokosky) Urbaetis.
He was predeceased by his brother, Frank; sister, Josephine Gronczniak; daughter, Joyce Mouawad and infant grandson, Christian Thomas Urbaetis.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, Neil (Joyce), Gary (Teresa), daughter, Valerie (Brian) Farley; son, Ronald (Kathleen); stepchildren, Christopher (Susan) Skojec and Sherry (Rich Lemley) Kaschak; 11 grandchildren; brother, Stanley (Carol), John, Martin (Nancy) and many nieces and nephews.
Ed proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and after being honorably discharged served as a police officer in Mechanicville, NY. Ed also worked for NYSEG as a senior right of way agent, and retired from the LPCSD in 2004. Ed was a 48 year member of the BPOE Syracuse #31 and the American Legion Post #0787 Cicero.
Calling hours will be Sunday, February 14th 2-5PM at New Comer Funeral Home, N. Syracuse with a service to follow at 5PM.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Humane Association of CNY.
