Robert “Bob” R. Lindley, 91, passed away on May 24, 2016.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Glenna Lindley; children, LaNita (Buzz) McKeever, Michele (Mike) Miller, Jacqueline (John Delapp) Meadows, Robert (Beverly) Lindley, Shauna (Tim) King, Steven (Tracy) Lindley and Kevin (Susan) Lindley; 32 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by children, Barbara Hoyt and Jeffrey Lindley.
Bob was born and raised in Syracuse, NY. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1941. He proudly served in the 1st Marine Division during WWII. He was injured on Peleliu Island, earning the Purple Heart and later received an honorable discharge.
Bob drove tractor trailer for 21 years and was proud of his accident free record; he received many driving awards. He worked as a tool and die machinist at Anaren Microwave, retiring in 1988.
Bob and his wife, Glenna, spent their retirement years traveling and enjoyed many adventures together.
Bob was a loving and devoted husband and father. He will be missed very much.
Calling hours will be Wednesday 11AM-12PM at New Comer Funeral Home, N. Syracuse with a service to follow at 12PM. Burial will follow in Onondaga County Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.
