Beryl A. Welch, 66, of the Syracuse area, passed away on Sunday at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a brief illness. She was born on March 3, 1948 in Gladstone, MI. She grew up in Fairgrove, MI, was a longtime resident of Memphis, NY and was fondly known as “Beryl the Cake Lady.” She was a cashier at Wegmans in Fairmount for the past 11 years and was a member of Holy Family Church. She enjoyed photography, sewing, cooking, baking, cake decorating and gardening. Beryl had a sense of humor, a compassionate heart and a wonderful smile. She was predeceased by her husband, John Welch in 1999 and her son, Steven G. Hintz in 1986.

Surviving are her children: Anjanette (Todd) Bowen, Jennifer (Nathan) Harrington, Kathleen (Susan) Welch, Kristine (Nicholas) Menkins, Bernard (Sheryl) Welch, Carolyn (David) Dennstedt, Timothy Welch, Amy Manes, Richard (Mary) VanHeesch, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, 3 sisters: Margaret (John) Spohn, Kathleen (David) Humpert, Margot Terry, brother Wesley (Dina) Murphy, as well as her extended family at Wegmans.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-7pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse. A funeral mass will be held on Friday 10am at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Camillus. Burial will take place at Brookside Cemetery, Fairgrove, MI.
