In Memory Of
Shirley M. (Cross) Woodard
1928 - 2017
Shirley was born in Felts Mills, New York on August 20, 1928 to the late Morris and Winifred Cross.
She is predeceased by her grandson, Nicholas Gregory.
She is survived by her children, Jean (DeForest) Brooker, Connie (Jim) Baird, Tom Burrows, Nancy (John) Demma, Barbara (Edward) Tucker, David (Gayle) Burrows, Amy (Jim) Halliday and Jerry (Monica) Burrows; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Shirley was married on February 23, 1947 to Paul F. Burrows, both Paul and Shirley went Home on November 7, 14 years apart.
She enjoyed crafting and created miniature log cabins for each of her children, each furnished with handmade items. One of her favorite past times was putting puzzles together with her friend, Nadine. Shirley was gifted with a beautiful singing voice and was a part of the worship team at Cornerstone Christian Church, where she was known as ‘Mom’. She affected several positive changes at the assisted living facility where she lived for 8 years. She was never afraid to stand her ground regarding any issue. Shirley always wore a smile and had a great sense of humor. Her children remember that no one could make Christmas like Mom could. Her faith saw her through many trials while influencing those around her in a positive uplifting way. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will take place on Monday, November 13, 4-7 PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, where funeral services will follow at 7 PM. Interment will take place at 10 AM on Tuesday at Black River Cemetery, Rt. 3, Black River, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the CNY Food Bank.
