Basil “Mel” Melton, 80, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday night surrounded by family.
Mel was an Air Force veteran who served for 10 years during the Korean war. He later retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. He enjoyed camping with his wife at Brennan’s Beach for many years in his free time.
He is predeceased by his mother, Romie Ledford.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Winnie Melton; children, Lorraine (Joe) Hollenberger, Randy (Connie) Melton, Cheryl (Jim) Taylor and Brenda (Russ) McCarty; grandchildren, Michael, Matt, Joey, Kristy, Jim, Jen, Brian, Scott and their spouses, as well as 13 great grandchildren.
There will be no funeral services per Basil’s wishes.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 7th North St, Liverpool, NY 13088.
