Elizabeth (Betty) Sax, 93, passed away peacefully at Elderwood Nursing Facility on Friday. Betty was born and raised on the Northside of Syracuse, where after graduating from North High, she married her neighborhood sweetheart, Ray. They moved to North Syracuse where they raised their four children and celebrated 70 years of marriage last September.
As a girl she enjoyed playing tennis, horseback riding, singing at weddings and volunteered as a nurses aide at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was employed in the office at Will and Baumer Candle Co. and Solvay Process.
Betty was an avid reader, she loved knitting, visiting with her wonderful neighbors, traveling with Ray and especially spending time with her children & grandchildren. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church.
A special thank-you to all the staff at Elderwood who provided loving and professional care to Betty for the past 2 years. She will be remembered for her outgoing personality and love for the simple things in life.
Betty is survived by her husband Ray, children; Ronald (Janice), Michael (Lynda), Lorraine (Richard), Marilyn (Michael), 4 grandchildren; Lisa (William), Shawn, Angela ( Tom), Cody (Melissa), 6 great grandchildren, Tyler, Liam, Sky Marie, Noah, Piper, Adalynn Marie, her sister, Mary, along with many nieces, nephews & extended family members.
There are no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
