Danny was born in Syracuse, New York on February 11, 1977 to Danford Backus Jr. and Irene Backus Miscione.
A U.S. Navy Veteran, Dan was stationed in Bremerton, WA with USS Rainier (AOE-7) as a Gunners Mate and traveled around the world. He quickly worked his way up the chain of command to Petty Officer 2nd class. He received multiple medals for his bravery, those included, Battle āEā Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and PACNOR WEST Letter of Commendation.
A graduate of Liverpool High School, Dan also attended OCC. He worked for J&R Landscaping and previously for MPD Company. He was very athletic and an avid weight lifter. Nutrition was very important to him. He had an impeccable memory and sense of humor. He was very intelligent and could hold a conversation with anyone. Most of all he loved to spend time with his nieces, who he loved very much, saw every day and treated like his own children. He went to every soccer game, musical and dance recital for them.
He is survived by his Parents, Danford Backus Jr. and Irene Miscione; Sisters, Patty (David) Calabria and Melissa Weinstein; Nieces, Jordana, Annabella, Meira, Abigail, Adrianna and Ava; special friend, Lisa Martin; As well as several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
He was predeceased by his Paternal Grandparents, Danford Backus Sr. and Fannie Backus; Maternal Granparents, Louis P. Miscione and Helen T. Miscione.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 from 5-8 PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, North Syracuse, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 am. Burial to take place in North Syracuse Cemetery.
