Michael T. "Mike" Benz
1962 - 2019
Born in Landstuhl, Germany on June 23, 1962, Mike is survived by his parents Richard Benz of Cicero and Sigrid Benz of North Syracuse, sisters Sharon Craig of Fayetteville and Michele (Dave) Rahner of Camillus, along with his niece Hannah and nephew Colton, whom he adored.
Mike is a graduate of North Syracuse High School. Following high school he served in the United States Marine Corps. After proudly serving his country, Mike earned an associate’s degree at Onondaga Community College and then was employed by UPS for over 30 years as a tandem trailer driver.
He will forever be remembered as a kind, generous man, and leader who loved life and loved to have fun.
He was an avid outdoors-man, and was happiest when spending time with his friends and family snowmobiling, four wheeling, hunting and fishing. Mike was a member of the Oswego County ATV Club and knew the trails of Happy Valley like the back of his hands.
Mike loved his fast toys and his favorite quote was “he who dies with the most toys wins”. Mike leaves behind his army of “buddies”, friends and family.
Calling hours will be Thursday, 4-7pm New Comer Cremations& Funerals, with a services to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Oswego County ATV Club in Mikes memory.
