George V. Green, 84, of Cicero, passed away on Thursday, March 21st at the VA Medical Center.

George earned Eagle Scout. After graduating high school in 1953, he entered the US Navy. He served 4 years on the USS Boxer. George went on to be a truck driver for various companies. After retirement, George began volunteering at the VA Medical Center. During his 22 years there, he earned many awards including Volunteer of the Year in 2010 and had over 28,000 volunteer hours. George was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 7290.

George was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Helen Green; brothers, Paul Green and Charles Stoddard; twin sister, Lois Green and two half-sisters, Kathleen Cole and Lillian Morey.

He is survived by his sister, Nancy Hughes; sister-in-law, Constance Stoddard and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on April 6th at 1pm at Cicero United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Syracuse VA Medical Center.
