He was married to Pamela Tarboro on October 26, 2013. They were first-grade sweethearts and he even carried her books home from school. They found eachother later in life and would have celebrated 6 years in the fall.
Richard served in the US Marine Corps. and had a career in the US Army. He retired in 1992. Richard also retired from being a military contractor in 2010. Out of all of his accomplishments, he is most proud of his children and grandchildren. They meant everything to him.
He was a bright light to everyone he met in Syracuse. Richard never had a bad word to say about anything; he even loved Syracuse winters.
He was predeceased by his mother, Ida Mae and his brother, William Leslie Copeland.
In addition to his wife, Richard leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Richard (Evelyn) Speller, Dominic (Yolanda) Scott, Michael Scott, Emanuel Scott, Maxwell (Brittany) Outlaw, Monica Plummer; sisters, Robin Finewood, Debra Lee and Nadine Jones; grandchildren, Lavaughan, Latriston, Sidney, Devon, Jazz, Dominique, Dominic, Devin, Reese, Maxine, Camille, Zoe, Dominic, Vienna, Zion, Eden, Adaleigh, Gavin and Regina Bacon; great-grandchildren, Michael “Oshea”, Richard II, Traevon, Teon, Sania, Landin and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 6th 4-5pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse, NY 13212 with a service to follow at 5pm.
The repass will be held immediately following the service at Rize Event Center, 5996 East Molly Road, Syracuse, NY 13211.
