Shirley G. Virag, 92 of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at Elderwood Nursing Home.

Born on August 7, 1927 in Schenectady, NY to the late Donald and Rose Cameron.

Shirley was a caring, dedicated stay at home Mom for her six children. Her love and devotion to her children is reflected in the way that they raise their own families. Later in life, she worked at the VA Hospital and the Syracuse Public Library.

The family would like to thank the staff at Elderwood for their care and dedication to our mother.

She is survived by her children, William P. (Theresa) Virag, Rose Marie LaShomb, Julie (Charles) Cooper, Joanne Kowalewski and Nicholas J. (Susan) Virag; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her husband, William Virag Sr.; daughter, Kathryn Virag; brothers, William and Donald Cameron.

Calling hours will take place at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, N. Syracuse on Friday, August 16th from 3-5pm. Funeral Service will follow at 5pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Community Options, East Syracuse.
