Kenneth P. Markes, age 74, of Mattydale passed away on Sunday at the VA Medical Center.

He was born on July 23, 1945 in Malone, NY son of the late Shelby and Elizabeth Markes.

Kenneth served in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era from 1964-67. He retired from Upstate at Community General Hospital after 20 years of service. He also worked at West Genesee High School Bus Garage. He enjoyed spending time with family, his friends and his grandson/dog, “Duke.”

He is predeceased by his wife, Betty Jane Markes, son, Gary Markes, brothers; Keith Markes, Shelby Markes, John Markes, sisters; Lorraine Cooley, Charlotte Recore. He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (Gerald) Brady, son John Markes, along with several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-6 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St, N. Syracuse, with a service at 6pm.
