Ray was born in Syracuse, New York on April 21, 1946, to the late Raymond and Lula Ryan.
A Vietnam Navy veteran, he retired from Syracuse Fire Department after 30 years of service. He was a member of the VFW Post 7290.
In his free time he loved to camp at Brennan’s Beach, play cards, and, most of all, spending time with his family and his dogs.
Ray was predeceased by his first Wife, Donna Ryan, and Brothers, Ed Smith and Michael Ryan.
He is survived by his Wife of 15 years, Diane Ryan; Children, Cheryl (Greg) Chapman, Christine Peck, Raymond M. Ryan; Step-Son, Christopher Izzo; Eight Grandchildren, Michael Bush, Michael Chapman, Taylor Peck, Jessica Peck, Lindsay Peck, Hannah Ryan, Colton Ryan, and Nico Izzo; 2 Great Grandchildren; Sisters, Elaine Luzzi and Peggy Anderson; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place Thursday, July 2, 2020 from 4-7 PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, N. Syracuse with a service to follow. Gathering size, within our chapels will be based on the most current NYS occupancy requirements. Masks are required, and social distancing is to be observed inside and outside of our chapels.
