Barbara Mary Friedel, 87, of Cicero, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2020.

She was born in New York City to the late Henry and Mary Eigner. She married her loving husband Rudy in October 1955. She raised her five children in Uniondale, NY and was an active parishioner at St. Martha’s Church. Barbara worked as a school secretary in the Uniondale School District, and upon their retirement, she and Rudy relocated to Cicero. She was a faithful communicant of Sacred Heart Church. Barbara enjoyed ice-skating, cross-country skiing, swimming and gardening. Although she had a love for nature, her greatest loves were her Catholic faith and spending time with family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Rudolf Friedel; four daughters: Maryanne Friedel (Cliff Connery), Elizabeth (Edwin) George, Therese (Thomas) Stimson, Geralyn (James) Loprieno; a son, Michael (Dori) Friedel; her sister and best friend, Mary Danna; and fourteen grandchildren: Michael (Emily), Ryan, and Colin Connery; Michelle and Brian George; Kevin (Maria) Stimson, Mary (Michael) Sciarrino, and John (Amanda) Stimson; Katie, Janie, and Sarah Loprieno; and Bryan, Kyle, and Alexandra Friedel.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church, Cicero, with a Celebration of Life planned for a later time. Interment will take place at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church, Cicero or North Country Ministry, Warrensburg, NY.
