Mr. Osbie McClain, Sr. was born October 30, 1954 and passed this life on June 22, 2020 in Syracuse, NY, he was 65 years old. Osbie was the first born son of the late Mr. Cash McClain and the late Ms. Anne Marie Humphrey Ross.

He was born in Panama City, Florida and lived there for the first 6 years of his life. In 1960 he moved to Syracuse, NY with his mother and
siblings.

Osbie attended Syracuse public schools and graduated from Central Technical Highschool in 1973, where he was a promising highschool basketball star. He continued to cultivate his basketball skills at Oswego State University until a knee injury ended his playing career. In 1973 Osbie and Ms.Brenda Stotts were blessed with one daughter. Osbie was united in marriage with Ms. Brenda Johnson, and they had three children along with Osbie lovingly accepting a father role and welcomed two new children. Osbie had six children.

For a time in the 1980’s Mr. McClain worked for the Course Hinds Company in Syracuse, NY. Osbie loved to compete, he enjoyed intense competitive games of chess, checkers and dominoes with his family and friends. He was very lively and loved to talk, he enjoyed seeing everyone laugh, smile and be happy. He especially loved to spend time with his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. They enjoyed being around him experiencing his candor and wit as he taught them the foundational lessons on how to lead an honorable productive life. However, he did not lean on his own understanding, Osbie grew in the spirit of God. He did not waver in his beliefs, he continued to grow until he became an Ordained Minister. He shared thoughts of starting a ministry to help young people, Osbie had the gift of giving in his heart, as evidenced by anyone that can attest to how he would pray.

Mr. Osbie McClain, Sr.’s life will be forever cherished in the lives of his children: Sharia McClain, Sheretta McClain, Sharonda McClain, and Osbie McClain Jr., all of Syracuse, NY; Siblings: Phyllis Ross, Robert Ross Jr, Elishamonte Glover, and Susan McClain all of Syracuse NY; Ronald Ross of Titusville FL; Extended family of siblings: Cedric T McClain, Sr of Panama City, FL; Barbra Williams of Katy, Tx; Martha McClain Nelson of Panama City, FL; Jarvis McClain and Gerald Dean McClain of Miami, FL; Russell McClain of Spring Lake, NC; and Dane Floyd of Miami, FL; Aunts and Uncles: Ms Christine Day of Inkster, MI; Mr. Timothy Washington (Sherly) of Panama City, FL; Mrs. Rachel McClain (CeAuther ) Crenshaw of Detroit, MI; Elizabeth Humphrey of Columbia, MD; Mary Humphrey of Shalimar, FL; Nine grandchildren; Eleven great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and well wishers.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, June 30th, 10-11 AM at Tucker Missionary Baptist Church with a service to follow at 11. Burial to follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
