She was born and raised in Syracuse and graduated from St. Lucy’s Academy. While raising her family, Alice worked for many years as a bookkeeper. After retirement, Alice and Nelson made rosary beads for the Marian Center, to distribute to local hospitals and nursing homes. She and her family were long time communicants of St. Lucy’s church on Gifford Street.
She was predeceased by her Parents; Brother, John Purdy and Sister, Anne Purdy.
Alice is survived by her husband of 60 years, Nelson; 7 Children, Mary, Theresa, Harold, John, Jean, Elizabeth, Anne and their families; Brothers, Harry, Dick and Frank and their families. She will also be missed by many friends, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and one special great grandson, Emitt born on September 4th.
Visitation will take place on Monday, September 14, 9-10:30 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church, James St. with a mass to follow at 10:30 AM. Burial will take place in Assumption Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the CNY Marian Center Inc.
