John O'Connor, 84, of North Syracuse, passed away on Monday. John was born in Syracuse on May 9, 1936 son of the late Timothy and Bertha O'Connor. John served in the US Army during the Korean War. John retired from New York Telephone in 1985 after 30 years of service. While at NY Telephone he served as President of the Telephone Pioneers and worked part time as a model. John was predeceased by his wife, Ann Marie; together they served as Co-Chairs for the Special Olympics. Following retirement they owned and operated Michar Modeling Agency. He was also predeceased by his son John O’Connor, II in 2019.

He is survived by his daughter, Colleen (Ron) Bench, son, Brian (Carol) O'Connor, his siblings, Pat Darrow, Larry (Cindy) O'Connor, Mary O'Connor, Ed (Pam) O'Connor and grandchildren, Erin, Johnny, Justin, Ali, Brian, Aiden & great grandchild, Sebastian.

Visitation on Thursday, January 28, from 4-6 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main, N. Syracuse. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday 11 am at Sacred Heart Church in Cicero.

Gathering size within our chapels will be based on the most current NYS occupancy requirements. Masks are required and social distancing is to be observed inside and outside of our chapels.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Loretto Foundation, 700 E. Brighton Ave., First Floor, Syracuse, NY 13205.
