Paul H. Burgmeier, 93, of Cicero, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Paul was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Joyce.

He is survived by his sons, Peter, Tom (Barb) and Carl and by his daughters, Rita Zebrowski, Joan Holland and Martha Kenyon. Paul is also survived by his grandchildren, John (Victoria), Gary, and Chris Holland, Emily Tofani and Joe (Heather) Zebrowski, Morgan and Madison Kenyon and his great grandchildren, Brian, Alondra, Alex, Chloe, Luke, Adrianna and Emerson.

Paul loved his family and enjoyed camping, first with a tent, then a travel trailer and later a cottage on Wellesley Island. He loved to cook for the family, be out on the river, fish, swim and play pinochle or spinners. He was a long time member of the Cicero United Methodist Church. He sang in the choir, ushered, and taught Sunday school. He participated in and supported Boy Scout Troop 117. He and Joyce were part of the church’s couples club which meant family camping trips and fun evenings playing “clobber” with game boards the men created. He had a long career in transportation as a local truck driver, retiring from the P.I.E. Trucking company. He and Joyce travelled to Hawaii, Alaska, and the Caribbean. Later, he and family members travelled the Rhine River in Germany.

Paul’s childhood sounded like a Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn relationship with his brother Lester. They knew where the best fruit trees were, great places to swim, rode horses and walked everywhere. Paul was a fun loving, social man with a very quick wit and a great sense of humor.

The family would like to thank the M.I.S.T. Program and St. Joseph’s home health nurses, OT and PT staff that cared for Dad on and off for nearly a year, the cards and well wishes from friends at church as well as the Hospice staff that provided comfort care in his final days.
Paul was an awesome father, grandfather and uncle and we will miss him very much.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place at Pine Plains Cemetery.
