Guy Charles Capone, 73, died Feb. 24, 2021, at Upstate Community Hospital in Syracuse following a long illness, with loving family members at his side.

Guy was born June 22, 1947, in Syracuse, NY to John and Margaret (Brown) Capone. He was their only child. A lifelong resident of Central New York, he graduated from Henninger High School in 1965. He had an undeniable passion for music and explored that passion by working as a DJ for several years with dB Sound, a sound system business he started in the 1970s. He eventually worked in the fire prevention industry for Davis-Ulmer Local 669 until his eventual retirement. Guy hosted a radio show on WSEN for three years and was able to reignite his interest in broadcasting by hosting a blues show recently on WRFZ, an internet radio station out of Rochester, NY.

He will be missed by his family and friends for his wisdom, his sense of humor, and his intense love and knowledge of music of all kinds.

Guy is survived by his wife, Cynthia, and ex-partner, Cecelia Britton;Sons, Michael (Katherine) of CT, Seth (Christie), Charles; step-daughter, Shawna Trimm and her partner Greg Lavant, who all remain in the CNY area; as well as five grandchildren, Clara, Abigail, Mary, Spencer, and Kalia Lavant.

Visitation will take place on May 8, 2021 at New Comer Cremations and Funerals from 4-7 PM.

Guy’s family asks that any donations be made to the Stan Colella Memorial Fund at Westhill High School, 4510 Onondaga Blvd, Syracuse, NY 13219.
