Julia “Judy” Simmons, 77, passed away peacefully at home on March 3rd, 2021 with loving family members at her side. Judy was born on October 11, 1943 to the late Mary and Charles Pratt.

She is predeceased by her husband, Robert B. Simmons; her son, Kenneth “Mark” Van Etten; sister, Marian Pratt and brother, Richard Pratt.

McDeid of Liverpool; grandchildren, Jessica (Jack) Carter, Jennifer McDeid, Travis Van Etten, Judith Joan “Jayjay” McDeid, Haley (Bill) Shull and Cody Wheeler; great grandchildren, Ariana, Alexis, Nova, Conner, Nyah, Bradley, Jaxon, Kamarie and several nieces and nephews.

Judy retired from McMillan book company where she met her late husband and made several lifelong friends. After retirement, Judy worked part time for the Fabius-Pompey school district and Tomra Recycling. Judy overcame many obstacles in her life and battled many health conditions. She was a fighter through and through; her fierce, feisty, and strong-willed nature served her well. Her family and friends will miss Judy’s smile, her sense of humor, her infinite knowledge, and her unwavering courage.

It is with great sorrow that we mourn the loss of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. Her loving legacy will be carried on through the hearts of many.

Her daughter Jackie wishes to thank Hospice of Central New York for providing the tools and resources necessary to care for her mother at home. Jackie also extends her gratitude to her husband, Tom; daughter, Haley and son, Cody for helping to provide love, care and support to her precious mama during the final days.
