Craig McAfee obituary: Craig McAfee's Obituary, Syracuse
In Memory Of
Craig L. McAfee
1950 - 2021
In Memory Of
Craig L. McAfee
1950 - 2021
Craig was born May 24, 1950 in Syracuse to the late Allene (Grant) Ruckdeschel and Millard Kenneth McAfee. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Judy Conley.
From a young age, Craig knew he wanted to build things and rare is the man who finds his passion early and makes a career out of it. He graduated in 1967 from Central Tech High School to pursue a career in construction, retiring in 2019 from Parsons and McKenna Construction Co. after 50 years.
Craig is survived by his wife, Mary and his 3 children, Christy (Steve) Rotunno of Camillus; Craig K. of Cicero and Mark (Laura) of Central Sqaure. He was proud to be a grandfather to his 8 grandsons, 1 granddaughter and 4 great grandsons.
While his family was his greatest joy and pastime, he was a quiet man with simple needs. When not creating masterpieces in his shop, Craig could be found on his boat on Oneida Lake, or with his bowling ball in hand as he was an avid bowler most of his life.
Craig was a man whose brilliance and eye for detail helped him perfect anything he touched. He sought no recognition for anything, his satisfaction came simply from the love of doing it. These gifts he passed down to his children and grandchildren, those simple wants, simple needs and most importantly the pride and satisfaction of a job well-done.
In addition to his loving family, Craig leaves behind his brother, Ricky (Connie) McAfee of Cicero and sister, Jill (John) Blackwell of Zephyrhills, FL, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A beloved family man and well-respected peer, Craig will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 2nd 2:30-6:30pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals with a service to follow at 6:30pm. Contributions may be made to Hematology Oncology Associates of CNY Cancer Connects or to a charity of your choosing.
