In Memory Of
Gerald Robert Shively
1952 - 2022

Gerald (Jerry) Robert Shively (b.1952) passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022, after a long illness. Jerry recently celebrated his 70th birthday with family and friends at his home in Cicero, NY.

Jerrys life was multi-faceted where he was accomplished in the United States Air Force and graduated with a degree in Theology from Cayuga College in the early 70s. His lifelong love of traveling had him driving a semi for years all across the country at Boston Buffalo, all while sharing his love of the bible with fellow truckers. His travels took him all over the United States. He loved to tell stories about his experiences on the road. Other loves included travel on cruises, fishing with family and friends, and following on camcorder the freighters on the Great Lakes. He owned a boat he would often take through our great Erie Canal system. You might say it was in his blood to explore and experience everything. His other love and most importantly, was his family. He was always there when people, family, and friends, needed him.

Jerry is predeceased by his parents, Royal Wayne Shively, 1981 and Mary Elizabeth Shively, 1978; a brother, Royal Wayne Shively Jr. (Sheila), 2002; and a sister, Frances Adele Shively (Dibble), 2018.

Surviving is his wife, Susan Romanowicz Shively; daughter, Paula P. Shively (J.Nunez); sister, Linda Lanigan (Robert); his loving grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held from 4-6 PM at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 705 North Main Street Syracuse, NY 13212, with a service celebrating his life immediately following, Thursday, June 16, 2022.

Contributions in place of flowers may be given in Gerald’s memory to the American Diabetes Association at diabetes.org.
