Cheryl D. Murphy of Hannibal, NY passed away peacefully June 16 at St. Josephs Hospital. Born June 14, 1947 in Troy, NY to the late Peter Pavick and Ella Mae Shufelt.
She is predeceased by her husband Dennis W. Murphy. She is survived by her son Richard (Martine)Murphy her grandchildren Madigan, Marlowe, Maksim and her long time companion and significant other, Gerald K. Sharp and her sister Sandra (Iggie) Heffner, along with nieces and nephew.

Cheryl graduated from Shaker HS (Albany, NY) then attended SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music where she played clarinet. Later in life she attended King’s College (PA) where she earned a degree to become a Physician Assistant.

Cheryl was a voracious reader and avid gardener. She enjoyed crafting and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a kind and caring animal lover whom doted over her dogs. Most recently Rosi and Rudi, adopted from an animal shelter, and Ellie and Rusty.

Cheryl fought hard against lung cancer but ultimately succumbed to her illness. She should not be remembered as someone that was diagnosed with cancer, rather she should be remembered as someone that fought hard to beat cancer.

She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Dennis W. Murphy in the Elmwood Cemetery, Preble, NY. where a tree will be planted in her honor.

In lieu of flowers she asked that trees be planted in her honor.
