Robert W. Fisselbrand Life story video
Robert W. Fisselbrand, 69, of Liverpool, passed away August 6, 2022 from IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis) complications, with his family by his side. Bob, as his family lovingly called him, quietly battled this disease for a decade, only displaying serious symptoms in his last few months, living life to the fullest every day of his life.

Bob was born in Syracuse, New York on August 29, 1952 to the late Donald and Shirley Fisselbrand of South Onondaga.

Bob attended Central City Business Institute after graduation from Bishop Ludden Jr/Sr High School. He worked for Lipe Rollway, Carrier Corporation and various Industrial fastener businesses in CNY, specializing in quality assurance in his later career.

He was predeceased by his sister, Joanne VanArnam.

Bob was a man who lived life with gratitude, abundant love and service to family, friends, and strangers fortunate enough to cross his path. He volunteered for the South Onondaga Fire Department in his early years. He volunteered for St. Augustine’s CYO youth group in his sons’ teen years, lovingly called “Uncle Bob” by the youth and adult volunteers. In his retirement years, he volunteered at Francis House, St. Joseph’s and Upstate University hospitals, bringing smiles and comfort to all he encountered. He shared his love of Syracuse University football with his sons and was a proud season ticket holder until this day. His tailgate friends said he now will have the best seat in the house as the next season begins.

Bob took a fun part-time retirement job at 1911 at Beak & Skiff in the tasting room and tavern, charming the customers with his wit and humor. He was very enriched by that job and it brought him much joy.

Bob immensely and abundantly loved and nurtured his wife, sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and siblings. He cared deeply for his friends and relatives and in his last days, remembered birthdays and anniversaries, reminding his wife Kathy to be sure to get cards out. On his next to the last day, he remembered a cousin-in-law’s birthday and even sent him a text greeting. His last few weeks of life were extremely difficult, and he fought valiantly to his last hours to remain with all he loved so abundantly.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Kathleen (Kathy) Fisselbrand; two Sons, David (Jessica) Fisselbrand and Kevin (Jennifer) Fisselbrand; four grandchildren, Jack Fisselbrand, Jeanne Fisselbrand, Molly Fisselbrand, Khloe Fisselbrand; siblings, Donna Owen, Kathy O'Connor, Mary Hood, Paula Wilcox, and Paul Fisselbrand.

Visitation will be on Thursday, August 11, 2022 from 4:00 pm-7:00 pm at St. Augustine's Parish, 7333 O’Brien Road, Baldwinsville. A funeral mass will be held on Friday August 12 at 10:30 AM at the church.

Burial will follow in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Augustine’s Church, Baldwinsville, NY and Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave, Syracuse, NY 13208.
