Shirley was born June 18, 1938 in Syracuse, NY to the union of Theodore and Margaret Bernhardt. She lived in the Syracuse area most of her life. She was formerly employed at the Syracuse School District. Shirley enjoyed listening to country music and loved to watch Hee-Haw re-runs. Shirley loved having her family over and helping her daughters cook; but, her greatest pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her four sons, Edward (Susan), John, James and Carl (Brenda); three daughters, Carol (Winfred) Davis, Peggy (Wayne) Mike and Brenda Spara, all of Syracuse. Shirley was a loving grandmother to 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, Theodore and Margaret Bernhardt; brother, Teddy; sisters, Laura, Betty, Rose and Katherine and her beloved dog, “King” who was always at her side.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 22nd 12-2pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals in North Syracuse with a service to follow at 2pm.
