James “Red” Borchik, 71, of Syracuse passed away peacefully with family by his side on November 20, 2022. He was born in Syracuse on June 10, 1951.

James passionately worked as a Truck Driver the majority of his life, and later became a Driving Instructor. In his free time, he enjoyed playing poker, fishing, camping and traveling. He was a loving Husband, Father, Pop-Pop and Great-Pop-Pop. Family was his priority.

He was predeceased by his Parents, John L. and Helen W. Borchik; a Brother, John L. Jr.; and Sister, Helen “Sue”.

James is survived by his Wife of 49 years, Palma (Esce) Borchik; Daughter, Erin (Jeff) VanBuren; Son, Brian (Amanda) Borchik; Grandchildren, Courtney, Alex, Megan and Olivia VanBuren, and Alden Borchik; Great-Granddaughter, Lilly Curtis; Sister, Marian (Tom) Leader; Brothers, Robert (Leigh Ann) and Daniel (Karen) Borchik; and Best Friend, Chuck “Charles” Henry.

Calling hours for James will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2022 from 11am – 2pm with a Service to follow. Services will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals in North Syracuse.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in James’ name may be made to Francis House or Parkinson’s Foundation.
