In Memory Of
Ernest J. "Ernie" Roosevelt
1935 - 2022
Ernie retired after a long career at GE, where he contributed to programs in Syracuse, Schenectady, Pittsfield, MA, and Greenville, SC. He worked for several years at Michelin Tire’s first US manufacturing plant in Greenville.
Ernie was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, boating, and fishing, and he had a lifelong passion for the Yankees. He was a leading advocate for safe snowmobiling in New York, and a fierce supporter of the US military and disabled veterans. Ernie had a gift for any project that required mechanical know-how, advanced carpentry, or skilled woodworking, and his car-restoration and home-addition projects were legendary. He was especially proud to have raised four Eagle Scouts.
Survivors include his sons, Michael (Jane), of Piedmont, SC; Mark (Lynn), of Greenville, SC; Mathew (Cindy), of Minoa; and Paul (Margaret), of Baldwinsville; grandchildren Dustin (Sarah), of Liberty, SC; Megan (Shadrey), of Lexington, VA; Lauren (Tony), of Rome; and John and Jenna, of Minoa; and great-grandchildren Charlotte and Olivia, of Liberty, SC; and Magnolia, of Rome.
There will be a memorial service at New Comer Cremations & Funerals on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 11:00AM.
