Alan S. Downing, 82, of Warners, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 15th surrounded by his family. He was born in Syracuse, NY to the late Mary and Howard Downing. He graduated from North Syracuse High School in 1959. He worked in construction with his brother, Jack until going onto to work for New Venture Gear, where he retired from in 1995 after 32 years of service. Alan served for 6 years with the Air National Guard. He was one of the founding fathers of Central New York Street Rods and belonged for 48 years. Alan built several custom cars which led him to become an NSRA Safety Inspector.

Alan was predeceased by his Son, Danny Missoff; Brothers, Don, Jack and Howard Downing and Sister, Pat Allen.

He is survived by his Wife of 46 years, Kathleen Downing; Children, Dawn (John) Michalkow and Jason (Lisa) Downing; Grandchildren, Nikolete, Tyler, Alex, Jace and Jax; Sister-in-law, Beverly “Cookie” Downing and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 20th 3-6pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals with a service to follow at 6pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY.
