Joan Ann Purcell, 90, formerly of DeWitt, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2023.
Joan was born in Syracuse, New York on June 27, 1932 to the late Stanley and Caroline Benett.
She worked for Borden’s Ice Cream and Lemoyne College, later retiring from TV Guilfoil. A member of the Red Hat Society and a parishioner of Holy Cross Church in DeWitt. She often participated in the Folk March and loved to travel. She was an avid gardener, reader and crossword puzzle solver. Most of all she loved to spend time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, Robert Davis Purcell; Daughter, Jill (Michael) Dean and Grandson, Josh Dean.
She is survived by her Three Sons, Robert (Linda) Purcell, James (Justina Hofmann) Purcell, William (Ginnie) Purcell and Daughter, Jennifer (Mark) MacCaull; 12 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great-Great Grandchildren.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, January 21st, from 1-4 PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals. A service will follow at 4 PM.
Burial to take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery on Monday January 23rd at 10 AM.
