Salvatore J. Russo, 97, of North Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at home.

Sam was born May 23, 1925 in Fulton, NY to parents Orazio Russo and Marguerita (Frataccia) Russo.

Sam proudly served in the Pacific during World War II as an Army (Air Force) medic. He was a valued employee of General Electric for 32 years, where he worked in plant security. Sam was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.

Sam was devoted to his family. He was known for his sense of humor, boundless generosity, and dedication to his three sons.

In his youth, Sam enjoyed hunting and fishing. As the years passed, he preferred to enjoy the simple pleasure of observing nature. He also enjoyed bowling, shooting pool and playing pull-tabs with friends at the club. He loved to crack jokes and would carry on friendly conversations with everyone he met.

Sam was predeceased by his parents and his beloved little Sister, Mary Blackburn.

Sam is survived by Sons, Thomas O. Russo of Cicero, John Russo of Grand Island, FL and James M. Russo of North Syracuse; Grandson, Michael and Granddaughters, Samantha (Hemingway), Kylie and Arlin.

He will be dearly missed.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 4-6pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals with a service to follow at 6pm. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery in Fulton in the Spring.
