Gary graduated from Henniger High School and then went on to Cazenovia College. He obtained a Bachelor’s from University of Albany.
He was general manager at Ruby Tuesday’s Restaurant and then owned and operated McGee’s Pub and Restaurant in Florida. Gary loved the food service industry and working with people. He also worked as a director of the Boys and Girls Club in Florida. Gary finished his career as a supervisor at UPS.
Gary was an avid sports fan, the LA Lakers and the Dallas Cowboys were some of his favorite teams. His hobbies included golf and basketball.
Gary was a a devoted father and family man, and it showed in his enthusiasm for life. Anyone who knew or met him couldn’t help but love the way his smile and character would light up a room. Gary lived life to the fullest and he had a special gift that you could see in him, just a look, a glance or a wink and you knew he loved you. Gary will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
Gary was predeceased by his father Gary A. Johnson, Sr.
He is survived by his 2 sons, Angelo J. Johnson and Anthony A. Johnson, both of FL; his mother, Carol Ann Campolo, Syracuse, NY; sisters, Roxanne M Harrison, Rose A. (Michael P.) Marano, and Christine A. (Michael J.) Long; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 18th from 12-3pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse, with services at 3pm.
