Joseph Benenati, 80, of North Syracuse, passed away March 7, 2023. Joseph was born in Lipari, Sicily on January 21, 1943. He was the owner/operator of Mr. Joseph’s Beauty Salon for nearly forty years, earning several awards and accolades for his work as a hairdresser. He was a self-taught businessman, outdoorsman, and devoted himself to hunting, fishing, and gardening. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and traveling to Italy where he visited with family and cherished memories of his childhood.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nunziata Natoli from Sicily, and two sisters Bartolina LaRosa and Marianina Cesario also from Sicily.

He is survived by his partner in life for over thirty years, Mary Nelson-Benenati; his two sons, Anthony (Audrey) Benenati and Mark (Karen) Benenati; two daughters, Suzanne (Gary) Cappon and Simona Benenati; step-daughter Tammie Nelson, and step-son Brian Nelson; five grandchildren, Ryan, Jack, Rachael, Nicolo, Alex, Jillian, and Sabion; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held privately. Interment will be made in North Syracuse Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
