1936 - 2023

James E. Abare, 86, formerly of Redfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 28th. He was born in Paul Smiths, NY to the late Eugene and Ada Abare. James graduated from Saranac Lake High School where he met his loving wife of 65 years, Patricia. He spent two years in the U.S. Army, some of which he was stationed in Germany. James is a life member of North Shore Sportman’s Association and Mad River Club. He was an avid hunter, ATV enthusiast and family man; most of all, he loved spending time with his family in the great outdoors.

James was predeceased by his brother, Lawrence Abare; son-in-law, Wesley Frawley and his grandson, Michael Frawley.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Kent) Abare; children, Crystal (Rich) Andrews, Susan Frawley and James H. (Kristal) Abare; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; siblings, John Abare and Ruth (John) Keach and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 5th from 4-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals with a service and military honors to follow at 7pm. Burial will take place on Thursday, June 8th 11am in Lakeside Cemetery in Bernhards Bay. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the North Shore Sportsman’s Association C/O Charles Gibbs.
