It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the untimely passing of William “Connor” Hicks on November 11, 2023.
He is survived by his son, Ashton James; his parents, William and Kelly; his sister, Jessica; his brother, Carson; Ashton’s mother Rachel and his four-legged best friend, Briar. As a family, we are beyond heartbroken.
Connor cherished his son, Ashton. Their bond was unbreakable, and he found immense joy in being a father. Whether it was teaching Ashton life lessons or simply spending quality time together, their connection was a source of endless joy. Ashton was simply the center of Connor’s universe.
When Connor wasn't spending time with his son, he found comfort in the outdoors. Fishing was a passion, and often could be found casting his line into the local lakes and streams. The tranquility of nature was restorative, and he found solace in its beauty.
A talented high school and collegiate athlete, Connor loved sports. He had an unwavering loyalty to his hometown teams. He especially loved his Syracuse Orange and was a proud member of the Bills Mafia.
Connor was a kind and sensitive soul who had a soft spot for the underdog. Despite his short time with us, he leaves behind a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of knowing him. Connor was a brave individual who fought a formidable mental health battle. He faced his struggles with immense strength and courage, inspiring others to seek help. His unwavering determination to overcome obstacles and his resilience in the face of adversity touched the lives of many.
In Connor’s honor, we ask that you check in with your family and friends often. Many are fighting a battle that others may not see. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in Connor’s name to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) at donate.nami.org. In true Connor fashion, please also feel free to put $5 on the Bills. Let’s go Buffalo!
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Connor’s life on Thursday, November 16, 2023, from 3- 6 PM at Meiers Creek Brewing, located at 720 Van Rensselaer Street Syracuse, NY 13204.
