Listen to Obituary

With the heaviest of hearts, we announce the passing of Alice Anne McPhee. A beacon of compassion, love, and hope whose presence alone touched everyone that was lucky enough to know her. She passed away comfortably and peacefully at age 64, surrounded by her family on April 18, 2026 in Syracuse, NY after a short and courageous battle with glioblastoma.

Born on May 16, 1961 in the town of Meridian, CT, Alice’s love for life and everyone she met were evident from the very start. She became a single mother at a young age, and was able to balance her own personal life, her own education, and multiple jobs, all while raising two sons. After moving to Syracuse, she remarried and had another child; a daughter.

There she began working for the state of New York, caring for those with both physical and mental disabilities. For over 30 years she dedicated her life to advocating and caring for those who were unable to do it themselves.

Beyond her professional life, Alice went out of her way to make everyone feel seen and supported, as if you were her best friend no matter how long you were in her orbit. She loved her flower gardens, birds, NASCAR racing, and the beach. Alice had a deep love for quality experiences with her people.

She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, James S. McPhee; her daughter Meghan McPhee; her two sons, Keith and Kevin Price; her sister Bess Lamb; and many other friends and family.
