Anderson Bembry, a devoted family man, longtime employee, and cherished member of the Syracuse community, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, at Upstate Hospital in Syracuse, New York. Born on September 10, 1939 in Hawkinsville, GA son of the late Willie and Elizabeth Bembry. Anderson’s 86 years were marked by kindness, warmth, and a joy for life shared generously with all who knew him.

 Anderson spent his early life in West Palm Beach, FL where he met the love of his life, Virginia. After moving from West Palm Beach they moved to Syracuse, NY and worked for the City Sanitation Dept. and then retired from Carrier Corporation after 35 years of employment. Beyond his career, Anderson was deeply involved in his faith community as a devoted usher at Living Water COGIC, in Syracuse, reflecting a spiritual devotion that stood as one of his proudest accomplishments. He was a member of Big Poplar Springs Baptist Church, Unadilla, GA for several years.

Those fortunate enough to know Anderson often remember his quick wit and joyful spirit. Known as a consummate jokester, he delighted in bringing laughter and lighthearted moments to any occasion. His kind heart and genuine nature were evident to all, extending through his love of fishing and the many barbecues he hosted in his backyard, where family and friends gathered in fellowship and good cheer.

Anderson leaves behind a loving family who were the center of his world. He is survived by his beloved wife, of 63 years, Virginia Bembry; his son, Jason Bembry, and daughter-in-law Melissa; and his four treasured grandchildren, Kamdin, Kiyara, Kaiya, and Kingston. He is also mourned by his two brothers, Alexander Bembry, Rivera Beach, FL and MC Bembry; West Palm Beach, FL, his two sisters, Fannie Mae Carter, Syracuse, NY and Eva Ruth Washington; Augusta, GA, his three brother-in-law Cleotis McClain, American, GA, Welthia, Jr.(Victoria) McClain, Clayton, AL, Ranszell (Sheila) McClain, Midway, AL, three sisters-in-law, Mary L. Cowart, Rochester, NY, Ollie J. (Rodgers) Hall, Liverpool, NY, Gracie Jackson, Rochester, NY, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers; LD Bembry, Camden, NJ, Alfonia Willie Bembry, Atlanta, GA, and James Bembry, Mt. Vernon, NY.. He was also predeceased by one sister, Lela Powell, Hawkinsville, GA.

A visitation to honor Anderson’s life will be held on April 10, 2026, from 11am - 12pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, located at 705 N Main Street, Syracuse, with services at 12pm.
