Antoinette Valenti Schafer, 69, a lifelong resident of Syracuse’s Tipperary Hill neighborhood, passed away on January 30, 2026, surrounded by love, with her daughter by her side.
Born on January 28, 1957, in Jamestown, New York, Antoinette spent her formative years on Syracuse’s West Side, where she built lifelong roots, friendships, and traditions that shaped her life. She was a proud graduate of St. Patrick’s Catholic School and a lifelong communicant of St. Patrick’s Parish, with family and community remaining central to her throughout her life.
Antoinette lived a life rich with creativity, warmth, and family. She was a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and beloved sister whose generosity and spirit were felt by all who knew her. She found great joy in crafting, baking, and the time and pride she took in restoring her home, and especially loved sharing those passions with her family. A talented cook, her meals had a way of bringing people together.
She was the proud owner of Artistic Ceramics and Crafts, where Antoinette’s gifted hands as a pottery artist brought beauty into the world. Through her talent and welcoming spirit, she fostered long-lasting friendships and deep bonds within the community. Later in life, Antoinette continued her strong work ethic and commitment to others until her retirement from Raymour & Flanigan.
Above all else, Antoinette was an adoring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest happiness came from time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her laughter, nurturing spirit, and deep love of family left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
She was predeceased by her parents, James and Carmela Valenti; her brothers, Vincent “Jimmy” Valenti and Jack Valenti; and her sister, Carmelina Spadotto.
Antoinette is survived by her daughter, Nicole Schafer-Farino; her grandchildren, Anthony (Sydney), Makayalla, Ava, and Vincent Farino; her great-grandchildren, Grayson and Colton Farino; her sister, Josie (Ralph) Cammarata; and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Antoinette will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, her creativity, her devotion to family, and the love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 from 4-6PM, with a service to follow at 6PM, all at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, North Syracuse. Entombment will be held the following morning at 11AM at Woodlawn Cemetery and Mausoleums.
