Arthur E. Robinson

Albert (Arthur) Earl Robinson Sr., of Syracuse, New York, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on September 12, 1937, in Enoree, South Carolina, to Ernest Robinson Sr. and Marie Gray.

Arthur was the only son among eight sisters, raised in a large and lively family that shaped his deep appreciation for connection and resilience.

He was also part of a proud extended lineage his father, Ernest Robinson Sr., affectionately known as “Blackcat,” was married to Lily Montgomery, and together they had five children, forming a strong family foundation that carried through generations.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, and his 23 children, whose lives stand as his greatest legacy (Nancy Annette Brennan, Tina Robinson, Andre Anderson, Loren David Madden, Robin Robinson, Marilyn Robinson, Tracey Robinson, Shaunda Smith, Dana Grant, Kenneth Rhodes, Tracy Walker, Timothy Robinson, Tosha Arriola, Arthur Robinson Jr, Eric Robinson, Vanessa Robinson, Shonteya Robinson, Nicole Robinson, Marcus Robinson, Kyle Robinson, Rachael Robinson, Dion Robinson, and Elijah Robinson).

His family continued to grow beautifully, including 50 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will cherish his memory.

Arthur was a proud entrepreneur and business owner of “Master Clean,” and later contributed his talents to Property Restoration, where he continued to work with pride and dedication.

Though he had no formal schooling, Arthur was determined and self-taught. He became a painter, carpenter, furniture maker, plumber, appliance repairman, and mechanic — a true example of learning through dedication and experience.

Music was one of the greatest joys of Arthur’s life. Gifted with a natural singing ability, he formed and led multiple bands across the East Coast and Canada. Known affectionately as “Legs” for his smooth dance moves. In 2014, Arthur was inducted into the Syracuse Area Music Hall of Fame and was honored with a "Sammy Award".

He often said, “Family is first, and music is second. Music is probably the greatest thing that has ever happened to me.”

In his free time, Arthur enjoyed fishing, baseball, and bowling, but nothing brought him more consistent joy than watching his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was often seen wearing his Steelers cap, with a Pepsi in hand, ready to share a story.

Arthur was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. His legacy lives on through the generations he built, the music he shared, and the countless memories he created with family and friends.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2026 from 4–8 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations & Funerals 705 N. Main St., Syracuse.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 9th at 11:30 a.m., also at the funeral home.
