Beatrice E. Haller

Beatrice E. Haller, 96, of Cicero, died Saturday, February 1st at Upstate Hospital.
Bea was born May 13, 1917 in Brewerton to Hiram and Gladys (Baum) Sayles. Most of her childhood was spent on the four corners in Cicero where her parents owned a General Store.
A 1937 graduate of the Cortland Normal School, she began her lifelong career as a teacher at the Coit School, a one-room schoolhouse in Hastings, NY. After a break to spend time with her young children, she returned to teaching in 1957 in the East Syracuse-Minoa School District where she taught Kindergarten until her retirement in 1977.
Bea was a member of the Pitcher Hill Community Church and the Cicero Young at Heart Senior Center.
Her passion was playing the piano and she did so beautifully. She enjoyed Yankees, Knitting, crosswords, and bird watching, but most of all, she loved being with her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband of 71 years, William and a sister, Ione Winter.
She is survived by daughters, Linda Clarke and Cheryl (Chuck) Spuches; son, David; grandchildren, Becky Barney, Christine (David) Vitt, Deanna Haller, Melanie (Clifton) Carden and Daniel Spuches; 9 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Barrett, and several nieces and nephews and their families.
Visitation will be 10am-1pm Wed. with funeral following at New Comer Funeral Home, N. Syracuse. Entombment Pine Plains Cemetery, in Clay.

Bea's interment will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, Feb. 21st at Pine Plains Cemetery in Clay.
