Bert Maestri

Bert Maestri, 93 of Solvay, NY, passed away on June 21, 2025 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born on February 13, 1932 in Solvay, NY to the late Celeste and Maria Maestri.

 Bert co-owned Solvay Iron Works with his brother John until his retirement. He lived in Lakeland his entire life and was very active in the community. Bert was a lifelong member of The Solvay Tyrol Club, The Solvay-Geddes-Camillus Lions Club, The Lakeside Fire Department, and Ironworkers Local #60.

 Bert was a parishioner at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, where he taught Religious Education for many years. Bert loved to work in his garden and play cards.

 He is survived by his children, Michael Maestri, Mark (Candi) Maestri, Tina (Chris) Maroney and Burt Maestri; many grandchildren; one great-grandchild; Bert’s beloved sister-in-law, Fran Maestri and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 Bert was predeceased by his loving wife, Patricia; brother, John and sister, Tina.

 Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals on Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 4-7pm. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at St. Marianne Cope at Our Lady of Peace, Friday, June 27, 2025 9:30am. Burial will follow at Belle Isle Cemetery, Camillus, NY.

 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
