Bertene E. DiGregorio, 96, of Clay, passed away on Sunday at Upstate Hospital after a brief illness. She was born on May 15, 1917 in Ira Hill, NY. She graduated in 1934 from Baldwinsville High School. She was a charter member of the South Bay Fire Dept. Auxiliary, a former member of the Cicero Center United Methodist Church. She was an avid knitter and donated her wares and time to the church and to the fire dept. She retired from the State of New York as a secretary after 19 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, James in 1996 and a great niece, Jackie Waldron.
Surviving are her niece, Lola Zarins, great niece, Judy Gunsalus, great nephew, Christopher Waldron, great great nephew, Don Gunsalus, and Mary Anne Fleegel, who was like a daughter to Bertene, along with her family.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 12:30-1:30pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse, with services to follow.
Burial will take place at North Syracuse Cemetery.
