Listen to Obituary

Betty was a lifelong resident of Syracuse and is remembered for her enduring faith and deep devotion to family. Betty Huckabee passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the age of 93.

Born in Syracuse on November 17, 1932, Betty lived a long and meaningful life defined by resilience, kindness, and unwavering faith. At just 9 years old, in 1941, she dedicated her life to serving her God, Jehovah—a decision that remained central to her life and brought her lasting joy and purpose.

Betty shared a beautiful and enduring marriage with her late husband, John Huckabee Jr., with whom she spent 68 loving years. Together, they built a life filled with companionship, laughter, and cherished memories—including time spent with their beloved pets. Their parrot, Benny, held a special place in their hearts and was known for perfectly mimicking Betty’s joyful laugh.

She will be remembered for her warm spirit, strong convictions, and genuine compassion for others. Betty didn’t just speak about her faith—she lived it each day, quietly touching the lives of family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Family was at the heart of Betty’s life. She was a source of strength, wisdom, and unwavering support. Her quiet dignity and enduring love created a foundation that will continue to guide her family for generations to come.

Betty is survived by her children, Deborah and John (Gail); her cherished grandchildren, Kyle (Sarah), Johnny (Erica), and Tyler; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Caleb, Hayleigh, Landon, and Blake, along with extended family members. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Huckabee Jr.; her cherished son-in-law, Randy (Debbie); and her beautiful granddaughter, Michelle (Curtis).

A memorial service will be held via Zoom on May 30, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Details for joining will be shared with family and friends.

In keeping with her deeply held beliefs, her family finds comfort in the Bible’s promise that death is not the end but a peaceful rest until the time comes when loved ones will be reunited again.

Betty will be deeply missed, but her legacy of faith, love, and quiet strength will live on in all who knew and loved her.
