Betty Jean Ruoff (Burkhard), age 96 of Constantia, NY, passed peacefully on December 17, 2025

Born the oldest daughter of Beatrice and Leonard Burkhard of Syracuse, NY, she graduated from Central Tech High School with a business degree. Betty worked after graduation as a milliner and a secretary in several law firms.

Betty married the love of her life in 1948 and celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in 2023.

She spent her time raising her family, camping and especially sewing. She was an expert seamstress, tailoring suits and sewing for her girls. She loved to bowl and was part of the Syracuse City League, receiving many rewards. Betty also enjoyed going to the Casino, and playing cards and Bingo with her girlfriends. She was an excellent cook, baker and homemaker; a Martha Stewart before her time.

Betty is predeceased by her husband Donald E. Ruoff, her mother Beatrice and her sisters Ruth and Patricia. She is survived by her five children; Linda Provo, Steven Ruoff (Sherry), Carol Ruoff, Dawn Gaido (Greg) and Jill Murphy (Stephen, along with eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She is survived also by her brother Edward Wormuth of Santa Cruz, CA.

Services will be in the Spring.

A heartfelt thank you to St. Lukes Nursing Home for their excellent care. Thank you for treating Betty as if she were your very own.
