Carol Ann Fitzsimmons, age 87, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026. Born on February 4, 1939, she was the cherished daughter of the late James and Edith Hoyes.
Carol was a woman who found immense joy in the simple and beautiful things in life. She had a passion for interior design, always taking great pride in decorating her home and creating a warm, welcoming space for those she loved. She possessed a deep, child-like love of Christmas, and she took great delight in extensively decorating her home with multiple trees during the holidays. An expert hunter of good deals, she loved the thrill of shopping for a bargain, whether at the store or in the stock market. Carol looked forward to escaping the cold to spend her winters in Florida, where she loved playing shuffleboard and bocce ball. She was also well-known for her favorite daily meal: a double cheeseburger and a Diet Coke from McDonald's.
Above all, she had a deep affection for her dogs, who brought her endless companionship, and she was a fiercely devoted mother and grandmother whose favorite moments were spent cheering loudly at her grandsons' games and being surrounded by her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alan Fitzsimmons; her grandson, Michael Conrad; and her precious dog, Chipper.
Carol’s loving legacy lives on through her family. She is survived by her children, Craig Conrad (Janet) and Debbie Sala (John); her devoted significant other of 30 years, Darryl Yank; her dear brother, Donald Hoyes (Becky); and her cherished lifelong friend, Sandy D’Angelo.
She was the proud grandmother of Stephen Conrad (Jeannette), Lisa Pleasant, Daniel Conrad, David Conrad (Lauren), Emily Whitmore (Ryan), Brandon Sala, and Matthew Sala. She was also the adoring great-grandmother of 13, with another eagerly expected shortly.
Carol will be remembered for her warmth, her independent spirit, and the boundless love she shared with her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Carol’s memory to HumaneCNY, Liverpool, NY.
