Listen to Obituary

Carolyn J. Resseguie, 84, of Warners passed away on August 31, 2026, at Francis House surrounded by loved ones.

Carolyn was born in Syracuse, NY, on February 22, 1942, and grew up in Syracuse, Binghamton, and Camillus, NY. She graduated from West Genesee High School and furthered her education at the Central City Business Institute (CCBI). After finishing school, she worked at the Public Loan Co., Country Squire Bakery, a local bank, and lastly at P&C Food Markets, where she worked in the HR department and retired after many dedicated years of service.

Carolyn met Henry (Hank) Resseguie in July of 1957 at the Kallet Drive-In Theater in Camillus. She was cutting through the drive-in on her way home when Hank, who worked there, drove over to question her and later asked her out on a date. They were married in the Warners United Methodist Church on September 3, 1960.

Carolyn treasured spending time with her family, reading mystery novels, decorating for the holidays, watching her favorite judge shows and soap opera (The Young & The Restless), taking Disney trips, and knitting. She lovingly made baby blankets for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, even knitting a few extra for future additions to the family. She also loved tending to her flower gardens and watching the birds from the big picture window of her living room. She could name the species of every bird that visited the feeders on the back deck, holding a special fondness for the orioles, blue jays, cardinals, and woodpeckers. Carolyn also treasured the time spent with lifelong dear friends Betty and Jim Greene, who shared the same wedding anniversary date as she and Hank.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Henry; daughters, Diana (Paul) Torrey and Debbie (Colby) Palmer; her grandchildren, Nicole (Jon) Sorensen, Matthew Torrey, Tommy (Alex) Sciuga, Daniella Sciuga, and great-granddaughters, Presley and Gianna Sciuga; her sister Sharon (George) Hernandez; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

As per her wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. Donations may be made in her memory to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave, Syracuse, NY 13208 (for online donations, please visit https://francishouseny.org/support/) or Hospice of Central New York and of the Finger Lakes, 990 7th North Street, Liverpool, NY 13088 (for online donations, please visit www.hospicecny.org/donate).
