Charlene "Charkie" F. Engebretsen

Charlene “Charkie” F. Engebretsen, 83 of Hastings, NY, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2026. She was born in Syracuse, NY on July 5, 1943 to the late Thomas and Gertrude Tanner.

 She retired from Eagle Comptronics in 1994. From 1994 on, she went on to build and operate the family business known as Engebretsen’s Sawmill. She was a volunteer as an auxiliary member for the Hastings Fire Department.

 Charkie enjoyed going to the dirt races, loved garage sales, bowling, gardening, casinos, fishing, hunting, pitch and traveling to places with her husband, David on their Honda Goldwing Trike. She loved spending time with her family, friends and most of all, her dog, Lily.

 Those who knew her, called her Charkie.

 She was known for her big heart and personality.

 She is survived by her children, Theresa Green, Tammy (Herbert) Goulet, Troy (Kristie) Engebretsen and Terry (Rockie) Engebretsen; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

 Predeceased by her husband, David Engebretsen (2020); grandson, Joshua Green.

 A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
